One writer who was paradigm-shifting for me was Robert Sapolsky. His Why Zebras Don’t Get Ulcers is long, but wonderful if you are interested in the effect of chronic stress on our systems. He’s a great writer, witty, funny.

For me, moving into mindfulness (and yoga) was an education in the way that body and brain are interrelated. You cannot treat one without the other. I end up talking with parents and patients all the time about soothing physically in order to get the mind to follow.

I’m glad you liked this piece of writing!
